CTO Adds Master Class to Tourism Conference
A new balanced approach to strategic management will be the subject of a Master Class at the second Annual Tourism Human Resource Conference organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), in collaboration with Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in the Dominican Republic from May 24 to 26.
The Master Class entitled, Building and Implementing a Balanced Scorecard Strategic Management System, is a two-and-a-half hour course which will introduce conference participants to the balance scorecard management system designed to help organizations develop a clear vision and strategy that deliver continuous improved strategic performance and results.
The interactive course, during which conference attendees will learn how to build, implement and manage a balanced scorecard performance management system, is designed for executives and human resource managers. It will help them understand how a balanced scorecard system works, the benefits, the costs involved in developing and implementing the system and the challenges that exists.
The Master Class, tailored to the issues facing the tourism industry, will be taught by a senior consulting trainer of the Balanced Scorecard Institute, a United States-based organization which provides training and information on the balanced scorecard system.
Conference attendees who complete the course will receive continuing education units through the institute´s alliance with the University of South Carolina.
The CTO is introducing the Master Class to the human resource conference for the first time this year as it seeks to enhance both the quality of the conference and the skills of participants, said Bonita Morgan, CTO´s director of human resources.
The conference program also includes a number of exciting workshops and plenary sessions on topics ranging from mindful approaches to learning and showcasing good tourism practices, to managing diversity while maintaining a quality workforce. A number of post conference tours are also being planned for May 27.
The 2nd Annual Tourism Human Resources Conference is funded by the European Union within the framework of the Caribbean Regional Sustainable Tourism Development Program (CRSTDP), is an €8 million program aimed at helping the Caribbean tourism sector become more competitive and more sustainable.
