CTO Looking for Sustainable Tourism Product Specialist

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is has a job opening for a

Sustainable Tourism Product Specialist, who will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of projects and activities that will enhance the growth, quality, competitiveness and sustainability of the Caribbean tourism product.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Masters degree in Tourism Management, Environmental Management, Development, Planning or Resource Management, with not less than five (5) years experience in their field of expertise or a Bachelor´s degree together with at least ten (10) years of relevant tourism experience

2. Knowledge of and experience in project management and implementation

3. Work related to the field of sustainable development would be a definite asset

4. Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or French in addition to English would be a definite asset

MAIN DUTIES:

The Tourism Product Development Specialist will report directly to the Secretary General or his/her Deputy on the work undertaken in this area.

1. To develop and deliver an annual programme of activities which seeks to enhance the growth, quality, competitiveness and sustainability of the Caribbean tourism product

2. To help to develop quality standards for Caribbean destinations and their tourism products and services

3. To initiate and/or undertake relevant research and case studies, which are regional in scope, focusing on the impact of tourism on specific aspects of the social, cultural/heritage and environmental resources of the region

4. To research and compile Best Practices in the area of product development and sustainable tourism for the purpose of disseminating and sharing of information with CTO´s membership

5. To design, deliver and/or coordinate training and development program dealing with sustainable tourism and product development

6. To help to create a stronger link between the product development and marketing activities of the CTO and its member countries

7. To convene and coordinate the activities of the CTO Sustainable Tourism Product Technical Committee

8. To liaise on an on-going basis with regional and extra-regional institutions and projects dealing with tourism and sustainable development matters

9. To keep abreast of available resources from regional and international agencies to fund regional projects and to provide technical input to access these resources

10. To develop and manage projects which support the work of the CTO´s Sustainable Tourism Product Programm

11. To provide information on the CTO institutional website (www.onecaribbean.org) on materials, training programs and educational opportunities, funding sources etc. for the benefit of CTO member countries

12. To provide and/or facilitate technical advice/assistance on management issues related to product development and sustainable tourism matters to Ministries of Tourism, Boards of Tourism and other public and private sector tourism entities in the CTO member states
