CTO to Showcase Literary Talents in Washington, D.C.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization will showcase literary appreciation for the younger set during “Caribbean Weekend” in Washington, D.C. when Dawne Alexis Allette, a renowned children’s book author and motivational speaker presents her work in a colorful, animated session at the Adventures in Travel Expo (ATE). Ms. Allette will perform on Sunday, March 4 at 1:00 pm during the Expo at the Washington Convention Center.

Ms. Allette will captivate her audience of children (from toddler to age 7) by sharing her inspiring song lyrics and amusing picture books such as Caribbean Animals, What Will I Be and Choices, Choices in an hour-long show that is sure to deliver the sites and sounds of the Caribbean in a vibrant and dynamic manner.

A native of Grenada, in the Caribbean, Ms. Allette currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland, and holds workshops in creative writing for adults and youths. The workshops are designed for anyone who has a desire to write or those who must write but find it difficult.

“Caribbean literature is an outstanding expression of our culture, so we are extremely pleased to have Grenadian author Dawne Alexis Allette join our ‘Caribbean Weekend’ in Washington, D.C. and share her work with today’s young minds,” said Hugh Riley, CTO’s director of marketing for the Americas.

Cooking demonstrations from popular Caribbean chefs, special vacation offers, photographic displays and exciting Caribbean entertainment will also be available throughout the “Caribbean Weekend.”
