The Memory that Torments David Blanco

David Blanco, a member artist of Musicalia’s catalogue, Artex, never stops working… since late 2014 his name has been making headlines and he has had his fans on the move throughout Cuba.
From 2014 I recall the launch of his DVD entitled El nuevo mundo, on the concert he gave back in 2013, at Karl Marx Theater, which was nominated in the 2015 edition of Cubadisco in the Live Recording category.
Blanco organized a concert in December at Karl Marx Theater, Año 13, so as to celebrate the 13th anniversary of his project. The singer not only sang his popular Mueve la Pachanga orLa Evolucion, but he premiered some of the songs included in his new album: Vida Libre.
In 2015 he had the opportunity, just like a birthday present, to participate with his band in the second concert given in Havana by rock band The Dead Daisies, on February 28.
Afterwards, David Blanco has toured several Cuban provinces, as part of the activities organized by JOIN and Say No to the Violence against Women and Girls Campaign, promoted by the UN; he participated in the closing concert of the 48th Caribe University Sports Games, held at Havana University, and the artist gave concerts in Holguin within the framework of the 22nd Mayflower Festival, on May 2 - 8.
Surrounded by all of these performances, since 2014 David has been working on the songs included in Vida Libre. Tracks Alucinado, Lanzate, I belong to you, Como el avestruz, Dancing over me and Tu recuerdo, among others, are already finished and the last one was the perfect candidate to the first promotional video clip of the new album, which is going to be produced by Artex’s Bis Music record label.
Recorded in April and directed by David Blanco himself, in Tu recuerdothe leading role is played by the singer, his Harley and a road with a view of the sea, with a feeling of infinite freedom. The story… simple, but usual, earthly, human.
A man and the memories of a love… the memories of that love that never fades away and represents a conflict: does it kill or relieve? The man only thinks about her –in that woman that is actually no more than a memory-. Until he decides to begin a search of… the lost love?, the answer to the conflict?, both?...
The man stops on his way, thinks and continues the journey. He stops again, asks for directions… drives again… He stops once again to help a person, but he just can’t stop thinking about her, because there is nothing else he wants to do… His witnesses are the intense sun, a huge sea and the road.
David Blanco already said that in Vida Libre we are going to feel the electronic style from the 1980s in the United States and the United Kingdom. Tu recuerdo is a simple and carefree audiovisual production with visual elements that express peace and spiritual freedom, in spite of the existence of a memory that torments this man –David Blanco or any other man-. There is hope everywhere with that rainbow and clear sky, which bet on love and the interest in standing for it, in times when many people say that words and looks are meaningless, and dreams and feelings are in danger of extinction.
Tu recuerdo
No logro despertar sin pensar en ti.
No logro imaginar cómo es estar sin ti.
Me mata tu recuerdo o me alivia tu recuerdo,
No lo sé…
Si me mata tu recuerdo o me alivia tu recuerdo,
No lo sé…
Solo pienso en ti, sólo pienso en ti,
Y no quiero hacer nada más…
Solo quiero decir, solo quiero decir,
I love you, lonely, lonely, lonely.
No necesito más…
Duermo con el recuerdo de tu olor… bien dentro
Porque solo te quiero tener,
Solo te quiero tener, otra vez… otra vez
Me mata tu recuerdo o me alivia tu recuerdo,
No lo sé…
Si me mata tu recuerdo o me alivia tu recuerdo,
No lo sé…
Solo pienso en ti, sólo pienso en ti,
Y no quiero hacer nada más…
Solo quiero decir, solo quiero decir,
I love you, lonely, lonely, lonely.
