New York Yankees Pregame Ceremony on June 6 to Honor Caribbean Week in the Big Apple

In celebration of Caribbean Week in New York, the New York Yankees will host the Puerto Rico Tourism Company's Executive Director, Mr. Luis Rivera, as the Caribbean Tourism Organization's official representative in the pre-game ceremony on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

Caribbean Week in New York organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization which began on June 4, 2012, provides the New York community and the Diaspora living in the area the opportunity to truly experience the color, spirit and vitality of the Caribbean.

"CTO feels that in conjunction with the New York Yankees we can better encourage the idea of cultural unity within the New York community while reinforcing the Yankees strong embrace of diversity within its organization," said Sylma Brown Bramble, director of the Caribbean Tourism Organization USA, Inc. "By recognizing the vast range of Major League Baseball players from participating CTO member countries, including Puerto Rico and Venezuela, we are able to celebrate our commonalities and realize there is very little difference between our societies," added Brown Bramble.

Caribbean Week in New York recognizes the contributions of the Caribbean Diaspora to the United States and to showcase the rich and diverse culture of the Caribbean with consumers in the New York area.

The week will conclude on Friday evening, June 8 at the Rum & Rhythm Charity Event where there will be a wide variety of rums to taste and celebrity chefs to prepare an assortment of cuisine from around the Caribbean to enjoy. Combined with music, dancing and Caribbean entertainment, the event will take place at Tribeca 360 in downtown Manhattan.

The Week will end with a Fashion and Art Exhibition and Fashion Show at "XL" at The OUT NYC, 512 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036 on Saturday, June 9.

Combined with meetings and seminars for Ministers of Tourism, Directors of Tourism, National Tourist Office representatives and other key tourism and hospitality officials from the around the Caribbean, Caribbean Week activities will also promote unique vacation experiences to consumers at a day-long event at New York's celebrated Grand Central Terminal as well as stage the annual Media Marketplace which draws travel writers from across North America.

Artists, performers, celebrity chefs, fashion designers, models, investors and other strategic partners join government officials and the media as all converge on New York for a week that showcases the diversity and vibrancy of the region and offers Caribbean vacations at super special prices available only during Caribbean Week.

Organized by the CTO, Caribbean Week in New York combines business sessions and consumer-oriented events with food, fashion, entertainment and networking opportunities.

Caribbean Week in New York is the largest regional tourism activity in the New York area and typically attracts tens of thousands of participants to its largest event, the Caribbean Travel and Cultural Fair and Vacation Mart where consumers can purchase trips at special Caribbean Week rates. Destinations and hotels from across the Caribbean will be on display at New York's Grand Central Terminal on Wednesday June 6.
