Puerto Rico hopes to see more sunbathers
Puerto Rican authorities expect some 2.8 million tourists to visit the island’s eleven beaches and different vacation centers.
Ramon Luis Nieves, CEO of the National Park Co., indicated the quality of beaches is good, even though he laid bare the Arroyo and Añasco foreshores are currently under an all-out refurbishment process.
Mr. Nieves added the nation has opened lifeguard training schools and put more law enforcement agents on the beat in the face of the high-peak season ending in August.
Would that many tourists travel to Puerto Rico, revenues could be somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 million.
Mr. Nieves also pointed out there’s been a 14 percent increase in the number of reservations from last January to date, a result that stems from local trippers who feel staying home is safer than traveling overseas.
As to the larger amount of bookings and check-ins in Puerto Rican inns, Mr. Nieves believes the outcome is thanks in part to a campaign they’ve implemented that guarantees islanders great discount offers as long as they prefer vacationing on the island to traveling abroad.
