Sabre Introduces Seat Merchandising Tool
Sabre now enables airlines to differentiate and sell upgraded seats, as the company has integrated this merchandising capability into its GDS and airline reservation host system.
Midwest Airlines, which uses Sabre’s airline reservation host system, is the launch customer for the new functionality. Midwest is reconfiguring its fleet of Boeing 717s to include Signature and Saver seats in the economy cabin (Signature seats have more legroom).
Travelers can pay a fee to reserve a Signature seat with a Sabre-connected travel agent. Signature seats can also be purchased from the airline’s website, customer service or from kiosks at the airport.
“This new solution exemplifies the expansive capability Sabre has for airlines to address current marketplace conditions, made possible by Sabre’s ongoing and significant investments in its technology,” Sabre said.
