Travelport GDS Expands into Russia
Travelport GDS has announced further milestone agreements in Russia and the CIS as it continues to expand its presence across the region. The ongoing focus on the Russian travel industry follows the announcement made by the company last year to make a multi-million-dollar investment across Eastern Europe, including Russia, in response to the growth potential it has identified within the region.
The new agreements include a ground-breaking accreditation deal with TCH, Russia’s settlement services system, which paves the way for users of the Galileo system to issue TCH e-tickets for the first time in Russia and beyond -- only previously possible through the local GDS providers operating in the region.
A further significant relationship has also been struck with aviation IT specialist, SITA, to provide thousands of sales and travel agents across the region with access to extensive new airline content using Travelport’s innovative Reservation Sales Solution (RSS).
In addition to these deals, and numerous other travel agency and airline content agreements signed over the last 12 months in the region, Travelport has also announced funding for a new Galileo training program, in partnership with JSC VIP Service, as well as details of a letter of intent (LOI) signed with AlpOnline to provide all Galileo-connected users in Russia and the CIS with rich new tour operator content.
