WTM London Fighting against the Elements

First it was the big fuss about the official report on the 48-hour DLR trains strike slated for tomorrow, the ones that hook up the ExCeL Exhibition Center, the venue of WTM 2015, with the city of London.

Now more snags and drawbacks are hampering the arrival of exhibitors, visitors and press media. And this delay is caused by the elements. A thick fog that covers the city of London has prompted a significant number of cancelations of flights bound to London.

Today it’s the fair’s opening day and many European visitors have been arriving. However, a foggy London has played some havoc since early this morning with the city’s airports, by far the top means of transportation for exhibitors and other participants.

Nonetheless, the participating exhibitors and visitors are happy with the number of meetings they have been able to arrange since the grand opening of the fair today. They are hopeful to get more gatherings going later this afternoon and tomorrow morning as more people are expected to attend.

Expectations are running high and the initial outcomes look positive, meaning that in spite of the current weather conditions and the scheduled strike of the DLR train employees, WTM 2015 is running on all six.

This year’s edition is welcoming 250 new exhibitors and as many as 51,000 professional visitors are expected to walk past the turnstiles.
