Following on from the success of last year’s Caribbean Sustainable Tourism Awards, the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and Travelmole today announced the launch of the 2012 Awards. The revised program will see awards presented in six new categories will include: accommodation, community, heritage, events, wildlife and a special award.

Journalists started arriving in St. Martin a couple days before the State of the Industry Conference’s official opening. CTO and St. Martin/St. Marteen wanted to take advantage of the big effort that represents to bring top tourism media to such an event. Consequently, a Media Day was planned as well as press briefing. This last one took place at an impressive resort, Le Domaine de Lonvilliers.

British Airways is once again supporting the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) with Keith Williams, chief executive giving the keynote speech at the first State of the Industry Conference, taking place in St Martin between 14-17 September.

NTA and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) have created a partnership to promote opportunities to tourism businesses in the over 30 member countries of the CTO and give NTA tour operators easier access to Caribbean destinations. The CTO Chairman Senator Ricky Skerritt and Lisa Simon, president of NTA, signed the agreement at a news conference today at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, home of the annual CTO event which celebrates Caribbean tourism and the rich heritage and culture of the region.

Senator Allen Chastanet, Saint Lucia’s Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, will salute Saint Lucian nationals in New York on Friday, June 10, 2011. Senator Chastanet travels to Washington and New York for meetings with international organizations and to participate in Caribbean Week in New York, produced by the Caribbean Tourism Organization from June 5 to 11.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) will host its Rhythms of the Caribbean Ball on Friday, June 10 at The Plaza Hotel as part of Caribbean Week.  The event will feature live music, delectable Caribbean cuisine, and an opportunity to network with friends of the Caribbean. “The Rhythms of the Caribbean Ball is the perfect combination of an up-scale event with the music, sounds, and beats of the Caribbean,” stated Fernando Abreu, CTO's Deputy Director of Marketing.
