St. Lucia Minister of Tourism and Aviation and Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Allen Chastanet has urged regional tourism stakeholders to be understanding of the programs and needs of the individual territories.
Now is the right time for the islands of the Caribbean to work together to craft a sustainable tourism action plan for the region. This was the message sent by Terestella Gonzalez Denton, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), as she hosted a Press conference Thursday, the registration day for the 12th Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) on Sustainable Tourism conference, which is being held in Puerto Rico for the third consecutive year.
A diverse group of experts called for a balance between environmental and economic interests during the 10th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism.
Participants at the annual Sustainable Tourism Development Conference organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) will be among other things addressing the challenges for the Caribbean Coastal Tourism Environment (CCTE). Some of the world’s foremost authorities on conservation and sustainability will examine the challenges faced by the Caribbean’s coastal tourism environment during a special panel to be convened on April 29 at the 10th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development.
Speaking ahead of Counterpart International’s 12th Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx) -to be held on the island of Puerto Rico from May 15 to 19, 2008- former CNN News Anchor Andria Hall, a Christian author and producer of women’s conferences in the Caribbean, said “whether its conferences, crusades, retreats or a girlfriend’s getaway, a strong faith tourism strategy is both urgent and prudent for the Caribbean region at such a time as this.”
