Sports event experts hired to work on next year’s cricket World Cup in the Caribbean are bemoaning the complex structure of the event and expressing concern that there won’t be enough time to test new facilities.
Musical icon Sir Elton John, recording legend Al Green, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Gladys Knight, and Grammy winner LL Cool J are scheduled to perform at the Third Annual Plymouth Jazz Festival in Tobago. From April 27 through April 29, 2007, Tobago invites visitors to catch the island fever with a weekend packed full of unforgettable performances set against the backdrop of what may well be the last undiscovered gem destination in the Caribbean.
North East England has won a competitive bid to host the first ever World Travel Awards Europe in October 2007. The event will take place at The Sage Gateshead in October 2007, attracting around 500 travel professionals and media from across Europe and the rest of the world. The announcement was made at the World Travel Market exhibition at Excel in London by Stacy Hall, Director of Communications at One NorthEast, and World Travel Awards President, Graham Cooke.
Premium Travel 2007 will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 15 and 16 next year. The event will, once again, make the best use of the venue’s private boxes and beautiful reception rooms allowing participating companies to have their own private space for one-to-one business appointments with the attending buyers. The show will also feature traditional exhibition stands on the floor of the Royal Albert Hall. Attendance from buyers is by invitation only through a pre-determined selection process.
Chip Conley, founder and CEO of Joie de Vivre Hospitality, will headline the Second Annual Caribbean Sales and Marketing Strategy Conference in Miami, scheduled from December 7 and 8 with a powerful keynote address on “The Rebel Rules.” Presented by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA), the two-day conference will provide sales and marketing professionals in the Caribbean with the inside story on the latest information, trends and resources in sales and marketing competencies vital for growing their business.
Preparations are already underway on the island of Trinidad, where thousands of cricket enthusiasts will be heading for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in March. Trinidad will host the Group B matches at the historic Queen’s Park Oval and warm-up matches at the University of the West Indies Sports and Physical Education Complex (UWI SPEC) from March 5 to 25.
