The Mediterranean as a key area for the development of the cruise industry was the subject of the October 19 session at the Seatrade Med Cruise & Ferry Convention entitled The Mediterranean Cruise Arena.
During his opening address at the Convention, Pier Luigi Foschi, Chairman & CEO of Costa Crociere and Chairman of the European Cruise Council, the association of Europe’s main cruise sector operators, presented updated statistics about the growth of the cruise industry, and forecast of its economic impact.
Aruba will host the sixth annual International Aruba Beach Tennis Open scheduled for November 3 to 5. For three days, over 350 tennis lovers are expected to hit the powdery beaches of Aruba at Moomba Beach and enjoy live music, barbeques, dances shows and more and they will get the chance to swing their racquets and vie for over $1,500 in prizes.
Beach and tennis aficionados of all ages and levels are welcome to participate in the tournament as the categories include doubles fun, advanced, pro and masters.
More than 1,000 delegates attended the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association’s four-day conference on Grand Cayman held from October 31 to November 3. The event was the largest conference staged locally, tourism execs said.
The conference sessions were held at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, while the Westin Casuarina Resort hosted the successful tradeshow.
Renowned actors Vin Diesel, Judge Reinhold, Ronny Hawkins, Luc Picard and Anthony Anderson have confirmed their participation in the second version of the Dominican International Film Festival, opening today at the Sun Village hotel in Cofresi, Puerto Plata.
During a press conference at the hotel, Sales director Carmen Rosa de Torres affirmed this year’s festival is to be a grand event for the region, where 26 English-language movies, 8 Spanish-language, 5 documentaries and 7 short films will be presented.
Asia-Pacific tourism ministers and officials from the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member countries have concluded their two-day meeting in Vietnam’s Hoi An.
The aim for the meeting was to boost tourism growth among member countries, ahead of an APEC summit which is to be held in Hanoi next month.
Visit London will have over 25 partners on their stand at this year’s EIBTM, representing an airport, a selection of hotels, chauffeur services, an exhibition centre, river cruises, a conference center and arts venue, a museum, a prestigious seat of learning, a stately home, an art gallery and DMCs.
