The International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup is coming to Grenada, along with nine other Caribbean islands, in 2007. Matches will take place on the island from April 10 to 20 and will certainly attract a large number of visitors to Grenada.
The stage is set for another exciting Caribbean music extravaganza when the 3rd Annual Turks and Caicos Music and Cultural Festival strikes up on “Provo,” as the locals fondly call Providenciales, from July 31 to August 7. A very impressive list of local and international artistes is lined up to perform at the Turtle Cove Marina. Stars include Grammy-nominated saxophonist Najee; reggae and soca group Stanley Roots, and Grammy-award winning hip-hop artist Ludacris.
St. Lucia will be host to the first annual Food & Rum festival from 26-29 October with a press trip planned for October 24 thru 29 for commissioned journalists. Set in the heart of Rodney Bay Village, guests will be wined, dined and entertained by international chefs, local breweries and live music.
Aruba will host the 27th annual Caribbean Hotel Association Marketplace event from January 14 to 16. This marks the second time the event will be held in Aruba, following its first appearance in 1992. The venue for this major tradeshow, vendor booths, and meetings rooms will be a 40,000-square-foot tent, similar but larger to the one that was used at Caribbean Marketplace in Jamaica in 2005.
The 2006 Kiteboarding World Cup will give visitors the opportunity to experience the golden beaches, luxurious hotels and unique restaurants of the Dominican Republic´s trendy, vibrant North Coast. This year´s competition, being held for the straight fifth year in the moxie-laden town of Cabarete, will take place between June 28 and July 2.
The Australia Chapter of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) will be holding its third Australian Conference on July 15 at the Avillion Hotel in Sydney. The theme of this conference –Tourism: Agent for Peace?- follows two earlier Australian conferences in March 2003 and September 2004.
