Not only does Aruba boast picture-perfect weather, extraordinary hotels and the friendliest people in the Caribbean, but this October the tropical oasis gears up to host two of the biggest names in music at the Third Annual Aruba Music Festival 2004.
Aruba turns into a rock and roll paradise this Columbus Day weekend as the island welcomes music legend Jackson Browne and Grammy-winner John Mayer to its white-sand shores October 8 and 9 (respectively). The two music powerhouses will take the stage at the Aruba Entertainment Center and the lineup is sure to satisfy music aficionados of all ages.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and Aruba have begun planning for the 27th annual Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-27). This year´s conference program will run from Monday October 18th to Wednesday 20th, with the opening ceremony set for Sunday evening, October 17th.
Under the theme “Caribbean Tourism: Driving Business in the Global Economy”, the region´s premier tourism educational and networking event will make great emphasis on the development of inventive and novel tourism-related programs that will help drive business to the Caribbean.
The Committee of Affiliate Members of the World Tourism Organization, in collaboration with the Government of Argentina and the Argentine affiliate members, will hold the Leadership Forum of Advisers in Buenos Aires from September 30 to October 1 to stress again the importance of private sector in international tourism development.
The forum is attended by practically all the members of the Business Council of the Affiliate Members, and features prominent tourism industry figures who gather together to discuss the most important issues for the future of tourism-related enterprises in a changing world. This meeting is of special interest for the WTO Business Council, but Affiliate Members from the Education and Destination sectors will also be interested in participating.
Tourism ministers from Central America and Mexico met recently in Cancun with a view to assess regional cooperation between both geographical regions.
The meeting served to highlight top collaboration issues within the framework of the Tuxtla-Gutierrez Agreements signed by Mexico and Central America, as well as to appraise advances achieved by the Mayan World Tourism Program and other aspects contained in the Puebla-Panama Plan (PPP).
The beauty of Cuba´s underwater scenery, the diversity of its marine live and the government´s protection policy of sea bottoms were the main topics at the Second Expobuceo Meeting held this week on the island nation with a good turnout of local and foreign experts.
The event teed off at Havana´s Copacabana Hotel and included grand tours around Varadero Beach in the north and the Zapata Peninsula in central Cuba.
Organized by the Argentina Association of Tourism and Travel Agencies, and Mendoza´s Association of Tourism and Travel Agencies, the 30th Congress of Travel Agents will unfold on June 24 through 26 at the Governor Emilio Civit de Mendoza Conference and Exposition Center.
Under a motto reading "Tourism: Generator of Wellbeing and Thruster of the National Economy," the event will be divided in working sessions dealing with red-hot issues that play a major role in the travel industry. Some of those topics will broach air transport, legal and technical matters, national service providers, receptive tourism, training, ground transportation, travel retailers and wholesalers, among other issues.
