Colombia will be a part of FITUR-2003, one of the world’s major tourist tradeshows, scheduled to take place in Madrid from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2. The Colombian delegation will stress on its campaign entitled: “Live Colombia, Travel Through It.”

Beginning Jan. 21 through 23, Madrid will welcome the world’s classiest cooks and experts to the 1st International Gourmet Summit that will work under the most representative concept of today’s cuisine: fusion, the nonstop blend of styles and techniques.

The sixth edition of Jardines del Rey Tourism Fair came to a successful close in this destination north of the Ciego de Avila province with the presentation of the Silver Ibis Awards to the most outstanding tour operators, travel agencies and top choices in 2002.

The lion’s share this time around went to Canada-based carrier Air Transat and British tour operator JMC as the two top tourist providers for the ten hotels perched on Coco and Guillermo keys.

Spain’s International Tourism Fair –the first tradeshow in the sector’s international schedule for 2003- will open its 23rd edition from January 29 through February 2 at the Madrid’s Juan Carlos I Fairgrounds with as many as 9,000 firms from 170 countries.

The 23rd edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) will unfold Jan. 29 through Feb. 2, 2003 at the Juan Carlos I Fairground in Madrid. The meeting will gather over 9,000 companies from 170 countries comprised in a surface of 140,000 square meters, a 12 percent increase compared to last year’s event.
