
The 35th edition of FITUR, the International Tourism Show organized by IFEMA from January 28 to February 1 next year, will be taking the specialization line developed by the show one notch up, thus matching the prevailing trend in the sector. Therefore, the fair has created two special sections: FITUR HEALTH and FITUR SHOPPING.

Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has been awarded ‘Best Stand Design 2014’ at the 34th edition of FITUR in Madrid, Spain which closed on Sunday 26 January. DTCM operates a network of 20 overseas offices around the world.

Taleb Rifai, secretary general of the World Tourism Organization, and UNWTO representative for the Americas, Carlos Vogeler, attended the Cuba Night within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2014). Cuba’s Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero and the island nation’s ambassador to Spain, Eugenio Martinez, were also present.

Family-based tourism constitutes the most important tourist segment in Spain, accounting for more than 60 percent of overall tourism in the summer and 40 percent at Easter, according to the Spanish Hotel and Tourist Accommodation Confederation (CEHAT).

IFEMA, Madrid's trade fair body, has signed a collaboration agreement with Spanish State Railways, Renfe, within the framework of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, in order to extend the program of special discounts that the railway company offered exhibitors and visitors at FITUR.
