
ITB Berlin will be strengthening its image as the world’s leading travel trade show with the launch of a new advertising campaign. The creative team of Daniel Freier und Robert Körtge of the Berlin-based branding agency kleiner und bold has been responsible for developing this strategy and new undertaking.

ITB Berlin 2013 was by far the world’s largest meeting place of international tourism policy decision-makers and business leaders. Representatives of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), as well as more than 100 ministers of tourism and state secretaries, met in Berlin to help shape the future for growth in the tourism industry.

At the 47th edition of ITB Berlin 10,086 companies from 188 countries presented their products and services on a display area covering 160,000 square meters. The 26 halls on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds were booked up. A record number of exhibitors were represented on two-tier stands.

Over the last decade tourist numbers visiting the seven small countries of Central America have risen significantly, almost doubling to 12 million, including border crossings. Visitors nowadays are no longer just from North and South America. Pilar Cano is delighted with the recent surge in visitors from Europe.

UNWTO events at ITB Travel Trade Show 2013 include the 3rd Silk Road Ministers’ meeting, a session on consumer protection and a meeting of the World Tourism Network on Child Protection, as well as the first UNWTO meeting exclusively dedicated to “Tourism and Intangible Cultural Heritage”, among others (Berlin, Germany, 6-10 March, 2013).

Prominent visitors to the world’s largest travel trade show: ITB Berlin will be opened by Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel for the first time. Invitations have been issued by ITB Berlin and this year’s partner country, Indonesia, to attend the opening ceremonies, which will take place in Hall 1 of the ICC Berlin at 6 p.m. on 5 March, one day before the start of the show.
