A prominent Caribbean hotelier has been appointed Chairman of the Caribbean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism (CAST). The appointment is the latest Caribbean tourism sector leadership role for the St. Lucia hotelier, Karen Troubetzkoy, who serves as Executive Director of the storied Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet resorts in Soufrière, St. Lucia.

Just hours after CheapAir.com announced on Thursday that it had become the first online travel agency (OTA) to enable U.S. travelers to book flights between the U.S. and Cuba, the OTA experienced technical difficulties that prevented customers from finding such trips.
