Google made further inroads into the travel category with the launch of Flight Search, a web-based tool that lets you find and book flights. Google provided what it called an “early look” at the service last week with flights to and from a handful of cities, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas and Minneapolis. Participating airlines include Delta, JetBlue, Continental and American.

Amadeus has introduced Amadeus Travena, which it describes as the travel industry’s first fully web-based booking solution for travel agents. Agents can access Amadeus Travena via a web browser and log on for secure access to Amadeus content—air, hotel, rail, car, cruise, tour and more. This web-based solution also allows for quick deployment of new content and functionality from Amadeus.

Riu Hotels & Resorts launched a web version of its website specifically designed for mobile phones. Now anyone can view complete information about Riu, including the best available deals, and have the ability to make reservations on their smartphones, since the new version of www.riu.com is compatible with any type of mobile device.

TravelClick, which provides revenue generating solutions for hoteliers, and Travelport have announced a multi-year partnership enabling TravelClick to sell Travelport’s Headline advertising, acting as an extension to Travelport’s in-house advertising sales team. The agreement takes effect immediately.

British Airways has launched a new app on its Facebook page to allow users to create and comment on their perfect days in locations around the world. The new Perfect Days Facebook app has been designed to allow everyone to share their itinerary for a perfect day in their favorite British Airways destination. The app also allows the airline’s staff and cabin crew to give their own handy tips and insider knowledge to give users inspiration for their perfect day.
