RIU Reports No Flu, Reinstates Virus Outbreak Protocol
Spain-based RIU Hotels & Resorts said there are no cases of influenza A at any of the company’s Mexico properties. The protocol instructions have long been in existence at RIU, but are only implemented in times of need.
According to Laura Malone, RIU’s spokesperson based in Playa del Carmen, as a precautionary measure the company is implementing its “virus outbreak protocol,” a list of sanitary guidelines created by the doctor who heads RIU’s safety and health department, instructing staff to follow certain procedures such as wearing gloves when preparing good or cleaning rooms.
