Medical tourism in Mexico grows driven by fertility treatments

Medical tourism in Mexico continues to expand, driven by access to assisted reproduction treatments at costs between 60% and 80% lower than in the United States, while maintaining international quality standards and cutting-edge medical technology.

Mexico has established itself as the world’s second leading destination for fertility medical tourism, behind only Thailand. It is estimated that between 12% and 15% of all medical tourism in the country is linked to reproductive treatments, according to industry data.

This growth is fueled by a combination of factors: competitive pricing, highly qualified specialists, and the adoption of innovations such as artificial intelligence for embryo selection, ovarian and endometrial regenerative medicine, and multi-cycle programs that raise cumulative success rates to up to 96%, far above international averages.

Reproductive medicine has become a key driver of medical tourism in Mexico,” says Jean Paul Sulaiman, Medical Coordinator at INGENES, highlighting that international patients find in the country a safe, effective and affordable alternative to the high costs of the U.S. healthcare system.

Thanks to this combination of cost savings, scientific innovation and comprehensive medical care, Mexico strengthens its position as a strategic global hub for advanced reproductive healthcare.
