Ten American Tourists Perish on Plane Crash in Costa Rica

Ten Americans who were flying from a vacation hotspot on the tropical Pacific coast on Costa Rica died on Sunday when the small plane they had boarded suddenly crashed.

Thereafter it burst into flames a short while after its take-off, as specified by officials in the country.

The regional news media offered a list of the passengers. The list portrayed that five shared the same last name and it suggested that they were all related.

The president of Costa Rica Luis Guillermo Solis mentioned in a statement to social media that the government of Costa Rica regrets the death of 10 US passengers and two Costa Rican pilots in the air accident that had taken place in the nation’s northwestern Guanacaste region.

An official of the US State Department also confirmed the deaths of many US citizens in an airplane crash in Costa Rica.

The official went on to add that his department would like to offer heartfelt condolences to people impacted by this tragedy. And they also provided assistance to the affected US citizens.

The officials of Costa Rica also asserted that the plane that had come crashing down actually belonged to Nature Air.

It is a domestic airline that services routes across the nation and also offers aircraft for charter.

Guanacaste is a favorable vacation destination particularly in this time of the year when its spectacular beaches and jungles offer a respite for travelers who have been retreating the winter of the northern hemisphere.

Americans are by far the largest group of tourists arriving in Costa Rica. Only a small portion of the tail, blackened wreckage and debris were visible in post by the public security ministry. The plane was a single-engine turboprop Cessna 208 Caravan.

However, the cause of the crash was not known. In his statement, Solis said that his government had offered its commitment to do things that were important to work with the relatives of the victims to provide them what they would be requiring in this tough time.

He then also added that the emergency services were launched into action immediately as the alarm over the crash was given around 12.13 p.m.

The process of recovering the bodies continued into the night in Costa Rica. Early Monday the investigations into the causes of the accident would commence as per Solis’ statement.

The ages of the victims are yet to be made known. It came to be known, as per a local newspaper that the passengers had paid $2,300 for their flight.

The two pilots had been identified as Emma Ramos and Manuel Retana Chinchilla. This time of the year is quite busy in the coastal resort of Costa Rica since tourists and locals alike like to spend end-of-year vacations in the sun.
