Multiple award-winning hotelier Ewald Biemans, whose properties enjoy average occupancies of over 90 percent, will share his innovative and profitable environmental approaches with delegates attending the region’s premier sustainable tourism conference in Trinidad & Tobago next month.

Tourism industry's officials called today for the 14th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism scheduled for Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, in April. The theme of this meeting will be Keeping the Right Balance: Enhancing Destination Sustainability through Products, Partnerships and Profitability.

The Caribbean received nearly 25 million tourists in 2012, a 5.4 percent increase from 2011, according to data released by the Caribbean Tourism Organization. The region received its largest number of stayover tourists in five years, the CTO said in a press briefing released by CTO Chairman Beverly Nicholson-Doty.

Leaders in the Tourism industry from more than 30 member countries will be in Barbados this week for the annual Caribbean Tourism Organization State of the Industry Conference. The event is scheduled for Thursday, February 14, at the CTO headquarters, and approximately 300 representatives from various sectors of Tourism and private sector stakeholders will be in attendance.

The Caribbean Tourism Development Company (CTDC), jointly owned and run by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), recently held a Caribbean Public Relations Council meeting bringing together more than 40 public relations agencies.
