On World Tourism Day today, the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is emphasizing the need for more renewable energy technologies in operations throughout the tourism sector. The CTO’s duty is to encourage the widespread adoption of energy efficiency as a way of life.

The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) announced the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has joined the alliance as a destination member. In the quest to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the vital tourism industry, the CTO member countries strive to improve their tourism management practices, whether at the public or private sector levels, in all spheres of operation.

Johnson Johnrose of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) from Bridgetown Barbados has confirmed that the Hon. Alain St. Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, will lead a delegation to the Caribbean’s leading tourism gathering, the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s State of the Industry Conference, in St. Kitts this October.

Current trends in the leisure industry in the Caribbean region are the reason behind the meeting of 30 member countries of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) from October 10 to12 in St. Kitts and Nevis, according to an official announcement. The Conference will include private business contacts.

Caribbean tourism destinations have been advised that it is better to avoid or minimize the loss of life, livelihoods, property, economic decline and negative fallout by developing their institutional capacity and management systems for disaster risk management and climate change adaptation.

British authorities have received more criticism over recent increases in air passenger duty (APD), with the CTO accusing the government of ignoring legitimate protests about the flight tax. Despite this, the British government is 'simply not listening', said CTO chairman Rick Skerritt.
