The traditional Wemilere African Roots Festival will once again roll up its curtains in Havana from Nov. 22 to 29, this time up devoted to the culture of Cape Verde and featuring artistic performances, creation workshops, video shows, galas and presentations.
Organizers are also including a literary forum and grand tours around the historic village of Guanabacoa, the event’s main host location.
Officials from Aruba’s Tourism Agency (ATA) and the Hotels and Tourism Association of Aruba showed satisfaction with the results of the recently concluded Third Convention of Aruba’s Certified Travel Agents Overseas.
The event opened a magnificent opportunity to check out the island’s assortment of products and to assess ways to keep the flow of incoming foreign travelers up and running. The meeting was attended by travel agents from Europe, Latin America and the United States.
The Third Tourism Festival entitled “Let’s Know Our Own” has just come to a successful close in the Nicaraguan capital under the sponsorship of Association of Tour Operators and a turnout that counted on some of the country’s premiere tourist companies with their offers for the upcoming 2004-2005 season.
Nicaragua –a country known worldwide as the Land of Lakes and Volcanoes- is currently boosting eight tourist trails, such as the Coffee and Volcanoes trails, without neglecting such other choices as sun-and-beach destinations, religious sites and cultural spots.
Tourism management from both local and regional scopes, as well as the role to be played by tourism departments in each and every destination are points of discussion this week during the framework of the 13th Iberian American Tourism Symposium convened by the Havana Tourism Office.
The goal behind this effort is to clinch new useful exchanges for the tourist development of cities, municipalities and local tourism offices.
The symposium is sponsored by the Iberian American Organization of Inter-Municipal Cooperation and Havana’s People’s Power Office.
As part of the festivities to celebrate Havana’s 484th birthday, the Cuban capital is holding a big-bash carnival from Nov. 8 to 16 together with a meeting of friendly mayors from overseas.
The baptizing of rolling pots, a children’s carnival, opening parades, dancing teams, an award-presenting ceremony and the closing parade will heighten Havana’s carnival celebrations this time around.
Over 5,000 exhibitors from a record of 191 countries, including a massive representation from Latin America and the Caribbean, attended the World Travel Market that highlighted the tourism industry from Monday 10 to Thursday 13 in London.
