Tianguis Turístico Internacional de Pueblos Mágicos: A Look at the Next Edition in San Antonio
As part of the 30th edition of the National Congress of the Meetings Industry 2024 (CNIR), Miguel Torruco Marqués, Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, shared many details about the upcoming Tianguis Turístico Internacional de Pueblos Mágicos, to be held in San Antonio, Texas.
This event is one of the most important for international tourism in Mexico and is expected to have a significant impact on the promotion of Mexican tourist destinations.
This third edition of the Tianguis Turístico will be the first to be inclusive, with the attendance of 150 towns, the 26 Pueblos Mágicos, already confirmed and the Secretary of Tourism anticipates that it will be very successful. He also mentioned the attendance of important figures such as the guest of honor, the Mayor of San Antonio, Ron Nirenberg, eº, along with 11 consuls general of Texas and more than 140 international tour operators.
San Antonio, with an 80% Hispanic population, was chosen as the venue because of its importance as an outbound tourism market to Mexico. "One of the most important outbound states is also Texas.... Today it is San Antonio's turn," revealed Torruco Marqués. There are 36 million Mexicans living in the United States, which represents 11% of the country's population. The event will not only serve as a platform for the promotion of the Magical Towns, but will also offer a wide range of activities and business opportunities. "It is going to be a very interesting program because we are bringing crafts, gastronomy, there is a business table which is the fundamental motive, but there is also an academic area where there are conferences of great interest," detailed Torruco Marqués, underlining the complexity and scope of the program.
This edition represents a continuity in the efforts to promote Mexico's 177 Magical Towns. He also announced that in September the sixth edition of the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos will be held in Orizaba, Veracruz, a place with a rich history in Mexican hospitality.
"It is the cradle of the hotel industry, we placed the National Museum of the Hotel Industry there because Don Francisco de Aguilar founded the first inn in New Spain in 1525, which is why it is the mecca of the hotel industry in the entire continent and that is where the great event will be held," concluded the Mexican Secretary of Tourism.
