Hurricane Center Monitors Tropical Waves
The National Hurricane Center is tracking two tropical waves, but no tropical cyclone activity is expected in the next seven days, according to their Sunday update.
Thunderstorms, however, could bring heavy rain, flash flooding, and strong wind gusts to parts of Florida, with the possibility of waterspouts along the coast, AccuWeather forecasters warn.
While the tropics are predicted to stay calm for the rest of August, hurricane season is expected to "dramatically intensify" by September. "Things could get very active quickly once the dry air moves out," said AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva. This surge in activity is likely to begin at the end of August and continue through September.
