La Caleta Underwater Park to Reopen in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic’s Tourism Minister, David Collado, confirmed that La Caleta Underwater Park near Boca Chica will reopen in about 30 days.
The park restoration is over 90% complete, and the project covers roughly 119,925 square meters.
Key features include a 2.74-kilometer promenade celebrating the “countries of the Americas and the Caribbean,” renovated monoliths near Las Américas International Airport, plazas, trails, viewpoints, and new recreational facilities.
The project includes landscaping that preserves native species, better pedestrian access, parking, children’s areas, and a pergola module for vendors. There will also be a service building with offices and facilities for Politur (police tourism services).
La Caleta Underwater Park is one of the country’s most visited underwater attractions; its reopening is expected to bring both domestic and international tourism uplift.
Authorities see it as a symbol of restoring heritage and nature-based assets, contributing to the Dominican Republic’s broader tourism diversification.
