Castilla y León Wines Heads to the West Coast After East Coast Success
Following a highly successful East Coast tour across New York, Chicago, and Miami, Castilla y León Wines will bring its acclaimed wines to the West Coast in November, with stops in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICECYL) and Food and Wines from Castilla y León proudly announced the East Coast tour's impact and upcoming expansion to the West Coast. The roadshow showcases wines from prominent regions such as Ribera del Duero, Toro, Bierzo, Cigales, Rueda, and Vino Tierra Castilla y León, known for unique grape varieties and a legacy of winemaking excellence.
Castilla y León stands as one of Spain’s top wine regions, producing 6% of the country's total wine output across 80,000 hectares and featuring over 600 wineries. Its 10 Designations of Origin (DOs) and four Protected Designations of Origin (PDOs) illustrate the region’s quality and diversity, represented by the “Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León” seal. Each DO brings a unique identity, from Ribera del Duero’s bold Tempranillo to Bierzo’s floral Mencía and Rueda’s fresh Verdejo.
The East Coast roadshow included 25 wineries and attracted over 300 guests, offering tastings, masterclasses, and networking in three cities. Events were led by wine experts Jienna Basaldu, Todd Behrend, and Allegra Angelo, providing valuable insights into Castilla y León's wine heritage.
The West Coast tour, starting November 11 in Seattle, will feature 15 wineries with masterclasses by industry leaders, offering further insights into Castilla y León's winemaking traditions and terroirs.
