Mountain Tourism Conference 2024 Kicks Off in Guizhou

On September 27, global participants gathered in Xingyi, Guizhou province, for the International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports 2024. Under the theme "Integration of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Presents a High-Quality Life," the event highlights Guizhou's unique offerings.

At the conference, criteria for world-renowned tourism mountains were unveiled, with Fanjing Mountain among the 14 endorsed sites. Xingyi was also recognized as a world health and wellness city, further enhancing its reputation in sustainable tourism.

The event features 17 activities across three main categories: historical and cultural experiences, core events, and supporting activities. Since its inception in 2015, this conference has been a key platform for showcasing Guizhou's tourism potential.

Guizhou has actively promoted tourism as a driver for economic growth, aiming to position itself as a world-class destination. From January to August 2024, tourist numbers increased by 10.9%, with an 8.8% rise in visitors from other provinces, signaling the region’s steady development in tourism.
