Excelencias Group President Visits Peru
The Excelencias Group President Jose Carlos de Santiago is paying a visit to Peru and he didn’t skimp on words to praise the reasons that have made the South American nation’s gastronomy one of the finest in the world.
The founder and editor-in-chief of the Excelencias Group, who’s also ambassador of the Iberian-American Gastronomy Academy, arrived in Peru on a tight schedule that included meetings with local authorities, top executives and members of both the private and public sectors.
“Gastronomy has turned out to be a major travel allure for Peru thanks in part to the international promotion it has engaged in to tout it as the finest travel destination for foodies all across South America,” said Mr. de Santiago in an interview posted on Portal de Turismo, an online publication from Peru.
For the Spanish entrepreneur, Peru must continue tapping into its culinary potentials in a bid to rake in far more tourists. “Just a few years ago, Peru was known worldwide for Machu Picchu. Today, the country is famous for its gastronomy. Then, that’s a market you must further develop,” he added.
The editor-in-chief of the Excelencias magazine said in his interview that tourism must be gauged on the basis of three indicators: number of visitors, tourist spending and travelers’ satisfaction.
In the case of Peru, its being both a large and diverse country gives the possibility of steering promotional efforts into a number of specialized markets with a view to reel in big-spending and higher-quality visitors, Mr. de Santiago explained.
“You must have and offer all kinds of travel offers: cultural, natural, ecological, adventure, gastronomic and the like. There’s a need to boost up all segments, find new niches and pry into them,” he went on to say.
At the end of his interview, Jose Carlos de Santiago recommended journalists and news media to wield the right words when referring to the community of Hispanic American nations.
