Q- Have you been to previous conventions here? Can you give us your assessment about this event?

A- I’ve attended all previous editions of the Convention since 1999. I think it’s a great event, the most important tradeshow of Cuba’s travel industry.

Q- What do you think of Cuba’s achievements in tourism in recent years and how do you assess the country’s perspectives in the short and mid run?

A- The development of Cuba’s tourism in recent years has been extraordinarily positive. Our forecasts continue to be positive as well, even though growth had skidded a little bit lately. That hinged dramatically on the value of the euro in the market. I hope to see bigger marketing efforts beaming at this destination in coming months.

Q- What are Cuba’s main lures for Aventoura’s customers?

A- For our customer, the main attractions are not solely sun and sand, but above all, cultural products, contacts with people, nature, scenery and that special feeling you get when you come to Cuba.

Q- What do you make of this Convention’s initiative to link tourism and culture, even to present the combination as one of the event’s top issues?

A- I think it’s very positive.

Q- What positive kickbacks has your company gotten for attending Cuba’s Tourism Convention and having Varadero as the host city?

A- On a regular basis, most working activities, meetings and appointments are held in Havana. Coming here to Varadero for the Convention gives us the opportunity of spending a few days in this destination and taking a closer look at its development. However, my best memories are in the spring of 2001 at the Morro-Cabaña Fairgrounds in Havana.
