Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Jose Luis Silva on Monday will meet with the main tour operators and airlines from Spain in order to promote the country as destination for Spanish tourists. Director of Tourism Promotion at Peru's export and tourism promotion agency (Promperu) and Maria del Carmen de Reparaz will also take part in said meeting.

Companies and entities attending this week’s FITUR 2012 fair in Madrid have given top priority to the use of social media and their use in reeling in more end users of travel and tourism products.

Don Felipe de Borbon and Doña Letizia Ortiz, the prince and princess of Asturias, opened FITUR 2012 in Madrid. The ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off this time around in the fair’s entrepreneurial section. Once again, the Spanish crown has shown its unconditional support to the one of the sector’s major tradeshows: FITUR.

The social web site, minube.com, will take advantage of its presence at FITUR 2012 (January 18-22) to launch its Minube School initiative, consisting of a series of conferences whose purpose is to train members of the tourist industry so that they make the very most of the Internet and adapt their products and services to a new target made up of "social" travelers.

On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd, FITUR will open its doors to the general public in order to offer them a series of highly attractive activities. Once again this year, FITUR aims to offer the weekend public the best range of options when it comes to planning for their next holidays in the most entertaining manner.

The International Tourism Fair, to be staged from 18 to 22 January 2012, will host a luxury shopping tourism roundtable that aims to analyze this segment. The meeting, organized by The Chic Outlet Shopping® Villages, will take place on Thursday 19 January at 4pm at IFEMA, at Sala de Conferencias N102.
