A major meeting of bloggers from around the world will be taking place for the first time during the ITB Berlin at the event PhoCusWright@ITB Berlin. Bloggers are regarded as influential opinion-formers, which explains why web logs are an increasingly important marketing instrument.

Last year the discussion on climate change at the ITB Berlin Convention Market Trends & Innovations drew widespread industry attention to this issue. Twelve events will be focusing on the environment at the ITB Berlin 2008.

Berlin’s International Tourism Market (ITB), the world’s most important tourism fair, already has 11,000 exhibitors from 180 countries in its catalogue for this year, two months before the exhibit, with Dominican Republic as guest country.

The outlook is exceptionally good for the ITB Berlin as final preparations are under way for an event which between March 5 and 9 will be taking place for the 42nd time. “Compared with 2006 the number of bookings at the ITB Berlin 2008 has remained consistently high. The world’s largest travel trade show will live up to its reputation as the industry’s leading international platform,” said ITB Senior Manager David Ruetz.

Hoteliers and restaurateurs grouped in ASONAHORES and the Tourism Promotion Council (CPT) are urging the tourism industry’s independent hotels and companies to take part in the stand of the Dominican delegation in the Berlin Tourism Fair 2008, from March 5 to 9, with Dominican Republic as this year’s “Officially Invited Country.”
