The BIT 2007 -the International Tourism Exchange held in Italy’s Milan- was the first to be held in the new Rho exhibition center. Figures bear this out. In the 27th show, the total inclusive attendance figures exceeded 150,000, including 108,000 professional operators.

A new trend is driving growth in the global tourism industry. Tourists and young business travelers who prefer budget accommodation on their travels are setting one of the major global travel trends of the future. Next year the ITB Berlin will be responding to this demand with a new section at the show: Economy Accommodation.

ITB, the world’s largest travel trade show, will launch an Asian edition which Singapore will host in the last quarter of 2008. Details are sketchy at this moment but Messe Berlin, the organizer of the show, will reveal it a few weeks from now.
