Alaska Airlines has selected the Orbitz Worldwide Distribution private label solution to power hotel and car rental search and booking capabilities on its website, www.alaskaair.com.

Lufthansa has redesigned its Facebook fan page to make it easier for fans from around the world to engage in one if its key social media platforms. The relaunched page (www.facebook.com/lufthansa)  directs new users to a “Your Area” tab for them to choose their home country. After selecting a country, fans land on Lufthansa’s local Facebook page, where they can find information on current events and promotions in the language and country they have chosen.

American Airlines has expanded mobile boarding passes capabilities to eight more airports. Passengers departing from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU), as well as six international airports, including Barcelona, Spain (BCN), Rome, Italy (FCO), Frankfurt, Germany (FRA), Manchester, United Kingdom (MAN), Milan, Italy (MXP), and Zurich, Switzerland (ZRH), now can receive their boarding passes electronically on their mobile phones.

Amadeus, a leading travel technology provider and transaction processor for the global travel and tourism industry, and Travel Guard, a leading travel insurance and assistance company, have been selected to supply real-time travel insurance content, product availability and booking functionality through the direct booking channels of Etihad Airways, Hong Kong Airlines and Kenya Airways.

CCRA Travel Solutions, whose booking portal, CCRAtravel.com, gives agents access to real-time rates and availability at more than 160,000 hotels worldwide, is adding tours and air to the products it sells, said Peter Pincus, president of CCRA’s new Global Network Division.

Norwegian Cruise Line has tied up with YouTube to power the first-ever YouTube Vacationer, a travel-specific channel within the online video site. The channel will offer vacation inspiration with ideas and advice from well-traveled experts, such as Lonely Planet, National Geographic and Travel Channel.
